Well FTF-ers, Here's the deal, we are looking for some people who might be interested in the following events this year:

Tough Mudder (http://toughmudder.com/events/norcal2011/) September 17,18 in Squaw Valley
Urban Dare Race (http://www.urbandare.com/) at any point at any location in CA.
And a number of other fun and exciting events. If you are interested in being on a team for any of these events, please contact email@example.com and we will put together the team and trip information as soon as we can. Let's go have some fun at these events FTF!!
It's almost here, the end of the FTF Paleo Challenge. Yes competitors we know you want it to end today, HOWEVER due to scheduling challenges with the coaches for completing measurements and pictures, we will have to continue through the weekend. We know you'll be planning parties and all that good stuff, but hang in a few more days!
We will begin taking pictures on Monday and also doing measurements on Monday. Coach kevin will be in the gym on Monday Tuesday and Wednesday from 5a-6:30 or 7 each day and Coach Koshi will be there throughout the week as well. The best thing to do would be to show up during the week and try to grab one of the coaches to get your picture taken. We will officially end the challenge on Friday April 22nd to give you a week to get measurements and pictures taken.
We will post results soon. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We are working hard to get the schedules coordinated.
On Saturday April 30th beginning at 9 AM and competition beginning at 10 AM CrossFit Combat Fitness, CrossFit FTF, and CrossFit Fresno would like to invite everyone in the central valley to participate in the CrossFit Games Open Week 6 WOD with us. This will be a fun day to celebrate the 2011 CrossFit Games Open. You will be able to compete in the last WOD of the Games in a motivating environment and afterwards enjoy some BBQ and friendly conversation with fellow CrossFiters. Come support these awesome athletes and have a good time!

So often in life, not just in CrossFit, we are limited by the beliefs we have of who we are. I recently read a quote that said-
~ The important thing is this: to be able, at any moment, to sacrifice what we are for what we could become. ~
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
This comes down to going after what we want. It sometimes starts within the gym. Here is what I mean by this:
How often in the gym have you thought to yourself, there is no f-ing way I am going to be able to complete this WOD. I am too tired, too sore, too weak, too small, too big, too inflexible. I'll never be able to complete this workout." How often in life do you hear yourself doing the same thing, talking yourself OUT of what you can do? How often do you look at the board and just gasp at the RX'd workout on the board and after it's over say, it wasn't THAT bad. It's always simple, but never easy!
Our talk is very powerful, whether in the gym or out of the gym. The way we talk to ourselves determines a lot of how we get through our day. If we tell ourselves we can, rather than we can't, things change. If we tell ourselves it will be easy rather than it will be hard, it will probably be easy rather than difficult. It is in our mind- our self-limiting beliefs.
Our self limiting beliefs really can be detrimental to our workouts and how we feel about where we are in life. We often just have to hear ourselves talking, stop for a moment and re-direct how we are talking into a more positive voice and self talk. Remember what you tell yourself will or won't happen will come to fruition. We HAVE to be able to tell ourselves that things can happen or that we can break through this psychological barrier, or that things will be ok. We have to be able to look at the box jump as I can rather than I can't.
This principle applies in so many more areas than just in the gym. Think for a second what happens when you make a small achievement in the gym. How does that make you feel? Did you get out of your comfort zone to accomplish what you just did? Did you get out of the comfort zone you exist in to make it happen. What if you took those same prinicples outside of the gym. What if you took the muscle-up outside of the gym and realized it is all technique? What if you realized there was technique to life and started applying the same principles to your life and just realized things that you want to achieve you can. What if you stopped limiting your thoughts and opened your mind to the possibilities of success not only in the gym, but in other areas of your life? What if CrossFit was your tool to realize more about you than you thought? What if CrossFit was a tool for you to open your mind and stop the self limiting beliefs you have. What if you started approaching your life much the same way you approach a WOD.

Coach Kevin Hughes will be giving a talk on how we are all Destined for Greatness and talk about self limiting belief as one of the topics on Saturday April 23rd at 11 AM at CrossFit FTF. The cost of this lecture/discussion is $10 per lecture. It is a three part series focussing on how to help get through these self limiting beliefs and realize we are all Destined for Greatness. Coach Hughes uses CrossFit as a tool to help people realize their potential within and continues to strive for success in his own life as he applies the principles he teaches to his own life.
